Reading details: the name, birth date, birth time and birth location you provide for yourself or for anyone you request a reading about, plus any notes or questions you add. If you provide details about another person, you confirm you have their permission or another lawful basis to do so — see our Terms.
Account & contact: your email address, display name, password (stored only as a secure hash), and your communication preferences.
Purchase information: the products you buy, your order history, and billing details. Card numbers are entered directly with our payment processor and are never stored on our servers.
Technical: basic information your browser sends (such as your IP address) and the strictly-necessary cookies described below. We do not run analytics, advertising or third-party tracking.
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR / RGPD) we rely on these legal bases:
To provide your readings and run your account (performance of our contract with you) — generating readings, delivering them, and managing subscriptions and entitlements.
To take payment and keep records (contract, and legal obligation for tax/accounting) — processing purchases and retaining transaction records as the law requires.
To keep the service secure and improve it (our legitimate interests) — preventing fraud and abuse and maintaining reliability.
Marketing emails (consent) — only if you opt in; you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We do share the minimum necessary with the service providers ("processors") that operate the platform on our behalf:
Payments — Stripe. Card payments and subscriptions are handled by Stripe, Inc. We send Stripe your email and the order details, and Stripe collects your payment details directly. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
AI text & voice providers. To write and narrate your reading, the birth details and reading content are processed by third-party AI language-model and voice-synthesis providers. They process this data on our instructions to return your reading and do not use it to train their models for their own purposes where their terms allow us to opt out.
Email delivery. We use an email service to send reading deliveries and any updates you've opted into.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK/EEA (for example in the United States). Where personal data is transferred internationally we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the providers' Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent. We can provide our current list of processors on request.
We use only strictly-necessary cookies and local storage — there are no analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so there is nothing non-essential to opt out of. Specifically:
Sign-in session (e.g. occultique_user_token) — keeps you logged in. Preferences (theme, a one-time notice flag) are stored in your browser's local storage. Payment security — on the checkout page Stripe sets cookies it uses to prevent fraud.
Because these are essential to deliver a service you've requested, they don't require consent under the UK/EU ePrivacy rules. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time, though sign-in won't work without the session cookie.
You have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent for marketing at any time. You also have the right to give instructions about what happens to your data after your death. To exercise any of these, email readings@occultique.net. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Note: some records (such as completed orders and payment events) are kept where we have a legal obligation to retain them, even after an account is deleted.
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access and delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make a request, email readings@occultique.net.
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Transaction and accounting records are retained for the period required by law. You may request deletion at any time — where we can, we delete or anonymise your data; where the law requires us to keep certain records, we retain only those.
Occultique is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
